Under supervision, reporting to the VP of Security, the position of the Global Security Specialist is to support On Call International personnel and clients by providing in depth global security insight, monitoring geo-political climates and incidents, coordinating response in the event of security related situations, and delivering training & guidance on optimal security & risk management practices. This position will include travel for the purpose of supporting the sales team, meeting and coordinating with clients, client training, and industry related networking and seminar events. The position requires the individual to be periodically on call during after-hours.

The Global Security Specialist is an international security consultant who must be able to simultaneously execute duties in regards to intelligence collection and analysis, the assessment of risk, business continuity, emergency management, and crisis response for both internal and external stakeholders. The Specialist not only is a subject matter expert on a specific region, but also on best practices in travel risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

Relying on limited experience and knowledge, the Global Security Specialist is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments. These assignments are varied in nature.

  • Systematically collect & monitor open source intelligence including mass media, internet, specialized journals, studies, conferences, geospatial, and more on a given region or subject to meet core internal operational requirements, deliver on customer risk analysis needs, and respond to geopolitical developments, incidents, and trends that could affect the safety & security of constituent interests around the world.
  • Provide custom analysis, perspective and bespoke risk assessments on demand from a wide array of clients across diverse industry verticals. Deliver custom briefings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assess client exposure including identifying threats and vulnerabilities to assets worldwide and integrate analysis into broader improvements to their travel risk management functions including traveler education, alert notifications, expatriate safety, event security, and threat analysis.
  • Guide organizations through crises and provide immediate advice and actionable recommendations on risk reduction tactics that can be taken to mitigate the threat. Assist with planning, organizing, and executing a company’s crisis management strategy.
  • Assist in sales process to include providing education and insight to sales team on products and services, attending sales meetings with prospective and existing clients.
  • Coordinate with partner organizations, government entities, and internal operations to conduct political/natural disaster & security-related evacuations.
  • Initiate tasks and projects in a self-motivated and creative manner; work independently and in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with functional peers, industry experts and intelligence originators.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information and data. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Job Requirements

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Security, Emergency Management, Business, Journalism, Communications, or related discipline preferred. Equivalent military, intelligence, security, law enforcement, or business experience may be substituted for degree. Master degree desirable.

Experience

  • One to two years of relevant professional experience is highly desirable. (INTERN/CO-OP Assignments will be considered)
  • Experience living, working, studying in an international environment is highly desirable.

Other

  • Research and critical thinking skills for identifying, collecting, synthesizing, and evaluating large amounts of data in order to draw logical and actionable conclusions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy. Familiarity with social media required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word) and On Call systems.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with international security issues.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills required. Successful management of customer, peer and/or professional relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented management environment with the ability to work independently.
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment
